Meet the Maker: Frida Cooper, Ceramicist ~ photo series

Frida Cooper studied Visual Arts at Salford University, before deciding the traditional art world wasn’t for her and enrolling on a night-course at 7 Spot Pottery. Four years later, she’s produced ceramics for some of the best restaurants, cafés and bars in Manchester and beyond, including Pollen, Erst, Kerb, Higher Ground, Flawd, Red Light, Allpress, Blossom Coffee, Woven Whisky, and Mother Espresso. We popped into the studio to document the process of creating a test sample for Mana

“I graduated from a fine art degree and realised it wasn’t for me, which lead me down an avenue of craft. I felt more purposeful making physical functional objects that people could use and enjoy in their everyday life”.

“I think that’s what I love about ceramics, it’s so tactile. It’s nice to see people enjoying something that you’ve made.”

Frida is based in Manchester and specialises in hand-made, thrown stoneware pots. She takes commissions, hosts regular group workshops and is available for one-to-one tuition. fridacooper.com
